Are you new to the area, or maybe just a late bloomer when it comes to recycling? Either way it can be tricky to know whats what.
So when it comes to recycling food waste there are 4 things you need to know in order to make it nice and easy.
Your food waste is collected weekly along with your recycling. Which is loads better than putting it in your bin as that gets picked up fortnightly. If you’re not sure what day your food waste and recycling collection day is, don’t panic, you can find out here.
This one is an important one to remember, the collection times for your food waste (and recycling) can vary from week to week, as it may be a different crew collecting or there could be a delay due to traffic or the weather. Therefore, we recommend that you put your food waste bin, along with your recycling, out by 6am. Remember, if you’re not on an assisted collection it needs to be placed on the kerbside at the edge of your property!!
If you are new to this recycling food waste suff then number three you will be interested in. What are you provided with? Households are provided with one kitchen caddy, the little brown one that goes in your kitchen ready to receive all your food waste scraps. Then you have the black food waste bin that goes outside, when your caddy is full you just empty into here and swing the handle over the top to lock it and stop any pesky pests getting in.
Keeping your caddy clean. To do this, we recommend you line it with either newspaper, caddy liners, carrier bags, bread bags, pedal bin liners or sandwich bags.
We hope this info helped you out.
